Meshery Playground is a web-based, collaborative environment where you can explore Meshery and the infrastructure it manages, including multiple Kubernetes clusters, CNCF projects, applications, services, and operators that run on Kubernetes. The Playground gives you a sandbox for experimenting with infrastructure configurations and deployment options, and its multiplayer features let you design and operate infrastructure in real time with your teammates.
With Meshery Playground, you can:
- Collaborate with other engineers, share your knowledge, and exchange ideas
- Explore new cloud native tools without any setup or configuration. Open your browser and go.
- Design new cloud native scenarios and deploy them in the Playground. Keep your designs, and deploy them in your own environment when you’re ready.
You can explore all kinds of cloud native infrastructure without installing it on your own machine. Create virtual services, deploy sample applications, and watch how they behave in real time.
The Playground also offers pre-built scenarios that show how to implement specific use cases, such as traffic splitting, circuit breaking, and other cloud native patterns.
Meshery Playground FAQ
Question: Why do I need to sign up or register to use Meshery Playground?
Answer: The Playground is connected to live Kubernetes clusters. We refresh these clusters daily, but they still need protection from bad actors who might, for example, use them for cryptomining.
Sign up to receive a user account with perpetually free, full access to the Playground environment.
The Playground gives users full control over live Kubernetes clusters. Requiring each user to register keeps the Playground safe and healthy for everyone. Without sign-in, anyone could use the Playground anonymously, including people who intend to abuse it.
Question: Will I lose my Meshery designs in the Cloud Native Playground?
Answer: No. Meshery saves every design you create in the Playground to your user account, so your designs are there each time you sign in, both in the Playground and in any of your other Meshery deployments.
In other words, Meshery persists all of your design work to your user account.
Question: Will I lose my Meshery deployments in the Cloud Native Playground?
Answer: Yes. We reset the Playground clusters daily, which removes any deployments you made. Your designs are not affected.
In other words, the reset clears only what is running in the clusters. Your designs and other work stay in your user account.
Question: Is there a demo user account that everyone can use?
Answer: No. Real-time collaboration in the Playground depends on each person having their own account, so that several people can work together and each one shows up as themselves.
Your own account also stores the designs you create or save, so you can reach them in every session and never lose your work.
Named accounts also keep the Playground accountable, because bad actors cannot hide behind a shared, anonymous account to abuse it.
Question: Can I deploy Meshery on-premises?
Answer: Yes. A single command downloads, installs, and runs your own instance of Meshery in your environment. See the Quick Start, or choose from all supported platforms.
